Round 7 WAFLW PreviewFriday, April 12, 2024 - 10:40 AM - by Chris Pike

ROUND 7 of the WAFLW season takes place from Friday through Sunday topped off with South Fremantle playing host to Swan Districts with two finalists from last year looking to make a statement.

Round 7 gets underway on Friday night at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium with West Perth out to bounce back from their first loss of the season when hosting the reigning premiers East Fremantle.

Both teams come into the clash on 4-1 records after the opening six rounds.

Next up on Saturday is the battle of winless teams with Peel Thunder hosting East Perth at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah. Peel is looking for a first win of 2024 but East Perth its first ever WAFLW win.

Then on Saturday evening, Claremont faces Subiaco at Revo Fitness Stadium with the Tigers trying to remain undefeated against a Lions team attempting to break into the top four.

Subiaco is the last team to beat Claremont in the home and away season back at the end of 2022.

The final game of the round then takes place on Sunday afternoon at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with South Fremantle at home to Swan Districts.

The Bulldogs scored their second win of the season last week against East Perth while Swan Districts beat Subiaco to improve to 3-2 and sit in fourth position.

Carys D'Addario is one player having a tremendous start to the season for Swan Districts coming back from injury last season and the 17-year-old couldn’t be more excited with the team she's part of.

"The whole team this year is really putting in their best efforts and I’m really excited as to what is to come next," D'Addario said.

"We are a really close bunch this year and there is lots of positivity amongst coaches and players this season which i think has helped our connection on the field and everyone is enjoying themselves playing.

"All my teammates have their own strengths which they contribute to the team so if we keep working hard at it to improve i believe that we could have a really successful season."
